Epi-LASIK is a cutting-edge, surface-removing laser vision restoration treatment reserved for individuals who may not be a candidate for traditional LASIK Surgery. At Dada Laser Eye Institute (DLEI), we offer Epi-LASIK as a comfortable, effective alternative that provides clear and stable vision without the need for the formation of a Corneal flap.
This operation is ideal for patients with thin Corneas, persistent dry eyes, or patients with highly stressful or high-impact lifestyles, such as athletes, members of the military, or participants in adventure sports. Epi-LASIK gives good visual outcomes with fewer long-term complications.
In contrast to traditional LASIK, Epi-LASIK is the removal of the Corneal epithelium with a soft device known as an Epi Keratome. It allows our Surgeons to access the Corneal surface without cutting deeper structures. An excimer laser is used to reshape the Cornea and correct for Myopia, Hyperopia, or Astigmatism. The epithelial layer is naturally regrown or replaced back to heal.
Ideal for thin or irregular Corneas
After Surgery, a supportive contact lens is placed to facilitate healing for about 3–5 days. There can be some discomfort or haze initially, but most patients have stable vision again within 1–2 weeks.
At Dada Laser Eye Institute, our staff of experts applies state-of-the-art diagnostics and the latest technology to treat each patient with personalized and effective treatment. If you’re not an ideal candidate for conventional LASIK, then Epi-LASIK is the ideal solution for your visual independence.
